I wonder if there's a split between the Originalist Constitutionalists and the Organic Constitutionalists concerning the cult of Ron Paul.

I live in Austin, TX and there are a lot of Ron Paul supports here, largely amongst the young college crowd. They generally always cite the same reasons, which I know you are aware, for why they support him. There is no depth to their support beyond that. I look at Ron Paul supports not so much as a cult, but more as a group of individuals who have a childish side that is sparked by the idea of no authority and for whom the whole egocentrism of childhood never really went away. They have an "I can do what I want when I want" attitude and don't have the ability to see the bigger picture and understand that what Ron Paul actually proposes is not only selfish, but dangerous, and goes against everything that humanity is. Humans need other humans; that fact. They are naive in their world view. They are people who want so badly to believe in a savior that falls outside the two political parties in the country that have let them down that they have latched on to a few key points and shut their minds down to the bigger picture of what Paul stands for. I am generalizing here of course. I do realize that some Ron Paul supporters may have looked a little deeper into him and his policies and his past and just don't think any of it is a bad idea, but all of them are really not looking at the bigger picture. That seems to be a terminal disease here in the US..refusal to see the bigger picture, refusal to think beyond individual desires.
