Pat Buchanan's website (see note below) has published a column claiming that a major engineering firm has concluded that Israeli agents destroyed the World Trade Center via controlled demolition. (Read here. [11/03/2010: No longer available online. Click here.]) This conspiracy theory is a recent product of a retired TV reporter named Alan Hart, and was the subject of an earlier post on this blog. (Read here. Another prior column on Hart is available here.) Hart claims that an unnamed engineering firm has concluded that the World Trade Center was destroyed not by fires resulting from planes crashes, but by explosives detonated in the buildings. He further claims that Israeli agents steered the planes which crashed into the World Trade Center using remote control devices in their cell phones. Hart also contends that Israel has stolen an American nuclear weapon which it intends to explode in a major American city. He stated in an interview that Israel intends to use this "false-flag operation" to start a war between the U.S. and Iran in order to conceal a planned genocide of Palestinians by Israel.
Hart, who has made a career of anti-Zionist campaigning in a series of barely-read books and a never-ending tour of public appearances, has thus far been unable or unwilling to name the engineering firm he referred to, or to cite his sources for any of his charges. He maintains that this information is stored on a computer which is currently unavailable to him.
UPDATE #1(May 29, 2010):
An observant reader at Screw Loose Change, the great anti-truther blog, has pointed out (here) that the Pat Buchanan website, buchanan.org is, according to a notice buried on a FAQ page on the website (here), not edited or maintained by Pat Buchanan, but by the webmaster for his 2000 presidential campaign, Linda Mueller. Hard to believe that Buchanan would be so irresponsible to allow a website -- which is named for him, filled with his image, columns and pitches for his books, and which completely buries the notice stating that he's not editing it -- to post material this offensive. A lot of the other material, including links to Holocaust denial websites, is equally bad.
Buchanan needs to disavow this website or MSNBC needs to disavow him.

System Planning Corporation designs, manufactures and distributes highly sophisticated technology that enables an operator to fly by remote control as many as eight different airborne vehicles at the same time from one position either on the ground or airborne. For those looking for an extraordinarily interesting hobby, please see photos and specs of this hardware (about the size of a small refrigerator)at www.sysplan.com/Radar/CTS Just be sure your mom doesn't catch you causing havoc with the airlines.
Also, System Planning Corporation markets the technology to take over the controls of an airborne vehicle already in flight. For example, the Flight Termination System technology could hijack hijackers and bring the plane down safely. The Flight Termination System can be used in conjunction with the CTS technology that can control up to 8 airborne vehicles simultaneously.
In the context of 9/11 it also needs to be pointed out that Rabbi Dov Zakheim was Chief Executive Officer of System Planning Corporation's International Division until President George W. Bush appointed him Undersecretary of Defense and Comptroller of the Pentagon. Not long before Rabbi Zakheim rose to power over the Pentagon's labyrinthine, bottomless accounts, he co-authored an article entitled "Rebuilding America's Defenses: Strategy, Forces and Resources for a New Century" which was published by The Project for a New American Century in September 2000, exactly a year before 9/11; in this article, on page 51, it is stated that "the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event - like a new Pearl Harbor"!
Voila! 9/11!
Well, there you have it! Motive, means and opportunity all rolled into one and existing between Rabbi Dov Zakheim's ears.

Good for Buchanan. I certainly don't agree with him on a lot but the 9/11 lie is corrosive to this country and must be exposed. The cognitive dissonance is slipping more and more.

The fact is that four planes were hijacked on 9/11 by men wielding box cutters. They piloted those planes as if they were weapons, three hitting their intended targets, one crashing after passengers stormed the cockpit. What on earth is all this drivel about remote control devices and rabbis writing plans in the Pentagon? The fact that you you cite as your source the truthseeker website, a loony bin of conspiracy theories and hate speech, says a lot about just how poor your judgement is. I recommend that curious readers follow your link and see how the other half rave.

Nothing much happening in Haverstown, PA? Why are posting so many pointless comments on my blog? You've put about 10 stupid comments on my blog in about 45 minutes. Just get your own blog and stop wasting my time.
By the way, how can cognitive dissonance slip? That doesn't even rise to the level of a mixed metaphor, it's just dumb.
Whats wrong? You only like people who agree with your anti-arab world view to post here?
The cognitive dissonance that grips many Americans on the issue of 9/11(and more braodly terrorism in general) is slipping. It makes perfect sense.
1) There is absolutely nothing "anti-Arab" about me or this blog. If there were, you would have pointed it out. I strongly oppose bias on the basis of race, nationality or religion, as should you.
2) I welcome comments from everyone.
3) Merely cutting and pasting the phrase "cognitive dissonance is slipping" from your earlier comment and pasting it into a new one isn't the same as thinking about what the phrase means and restating it, is it? Maybe you mean to say that the public has become aware of inconsistencies in the version of events that they believed in the past. Is that it? Maybe your linguistic skills aren't up to the job of articulating that. No problem. That may explain why you're so susceptible to the obvious lies promoted by Alan Hart. You should listen to the Hart/Barrett interview a bit more closely. If you do, the meaning of the term "cognitive dissonance" may become clearer to you. As you apparently didn't notice, that interview is rife with internal contradictions.
4) I don't believe that your implied contention that the public is starting to believe the truthers is borne out by polling data. If you know anything different, feel free to post it here.
Are you kidding? One of your sites firsts stories(a few them actually) was about bashing Jimmy Carter for his book that is critical of Israel(though not nearly enough). One of them was a Washington times article(since you LOVE attacking the messenger, why the trust for Mooney? Or do you just share his anti-arab agenda?) talking about his "scary arab financiers!!!" Tell me, have you ever mentioned Israeli financiers of anything? But arab financiers in this case are worth mentioning right? Interesting.
Oh, and genius, you can talk down to me all you want, I see through your arrogant bull. Your site is slick, but it is completely biased and islamophobic. Is that linquistically sound enough for you smart guy? Are you the smartest guy in the room everywhere you guy or do you just act/feel that way? You're so smart that you buy into a false narrative that always paints Israel as the victim while it kills and steals and paints most arabs as the aggressors. The "war on terror" and all its disinfo is your gospel. I know your game neocon.
You say that I'm an Islamophobe because I disagreed with Jimmy Carter's book charging Israel with being apartheid, and because I quoted the Washington Times to the effect that he took a great deal of money from Arab foundations with an interest in making Israel look bad. You are free to disagree with my opinions on that, but there is nothing in the least bigoted about my position. Moreover, your attempt to brand me as a "Mooney" (as you spell it) because, in the over three years I've been blogging, I once quoted a well-sourced story in the Washington Times, is absurd.
You continue to rant and rave about this blog's purported bigotry against Muslims, yet you clearly find none. There isn't any here. The only bigotry you're likely to find is in the comments, which is sad, but reflects a reality of the world which it serves a purpose for the public to see. You are a case in point.
Not at ALL suprised you failed to post my response to your last comment. I saved it though, for posterity and to show how your website operates when someone comes at you with a good argument. You simply don't post it.
Anonymous:
Your comments are repetitious, boring, a waste of time. Your repeated charge that I hate Arabs and Muslims is slanderous, pointless, senseless. If what you say is true, why are you unable to site even one example? Think about that and save the answer for posterity along with your comment which I didn't post.
My response was dead on and you know it. Like a coward you did not post it because of that. Typical.
Resend it if you want... Did you find any evidence of anti-Muslim or anti-Arab writing here, as you have repeatedly claimed without citing one example? According to Sitemeter, you've spent a great deal of time reading about 100 of my posts, so you must have found something.
Just to liven up the discussion:
I have an acquaintance (German)who when he is filled with beer tells me what we need is a "Good Hitler" -- whatever that is. This guy normally has no political ideology (he says) -- After 9/11 he was excited! Claimed that his usual visit to a York, PA site and some character that is ihvolved with Nazi's claims that they knew before the planes hit the towers because they partnered with middle eastern individuals to take out Jews! I advised this was rather an incredible idea. "Oh no" he claimed. Both hate Jews and they have a long-time alliance. So, I guess everyone and every remote controlled expert on Earth was involved in killing on that day. Amazing! What is more amazing is the hate and the evil that men come up -- when will it stop!
